Mechanical Engineer

Serve as technical resource for safety, quality, and development of tooling, processes and capital projects. Manage projects to meet schedule, cost and effectiveness. Design and support product introduction into dynamic process environment to ensure product cost effectiveness and value. Works for Continuous Improvement and training of manufacturing process equipment to control scrap/rework/downtime and ensures operators and support personnel are effectively trained. Assist maintenance to decrease downtime with problem solving, troubleshooting and machine modifications, as well as installation of new equipment.

Qualifications:

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Tech required, with 8-10-years of hands on automotive manufacturing work experience. Well-developed problem solving, communications, and interpersonal skills required (Japanese Bi-Lingual is a Plus). Must be proficient with AutoCAD and basic Microsoft computer programs as well as hands on work experience with all shop equipment.

Process Responsibilities
Product Responsibilities
- Support Engineering Department
- Provide support to the engineering department on capital, improvement, safety and all other projects
- Collect data in an organized manner to make decisions based on facts
- Provide technical expertise to ensure cost effectiveness in early phases of product development
- Provide production with capable equipment to support processes
- Design and build machines or modifications safely and efficiently to machines to decrease downtime or improve process.
- Find and eliminate sources of variation and waste
- Find ways to protect the customer by eliminating defects, reducing cost, and adding value (including VA/VE proposals and analysis)
- Improve uptime, throughput, yield, manpower utilization, and other components of plant cost
- Provide technical support for sub contractors and assist with installations
- Develop engineered safety improvements
- Assist quality with problem solving and effective counter measures
- Support environment and safety compliance to company and government standards
- Communicate issues related to specific products to team members
- Support maintenance activities and ensure that listed TPM items meet process needs
- Continuously improve products. Maintain drawing record system to help identify mechanical drawings for future reference
- Continuously improve processes
-Develop systems w/in the process to control scrap/downtime/rework. Train employees on these system and monitor.

Environmental
Responsibilities:

Responsible for performing tasks in an environmentally safe and legal manner, conforming to all applicable site/departmental environmental programs, and promptly communicating issues of environmental concern to the department Human Resources Manager

$60-$70k yearly

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
